Virgil van Dijk has become one of Liverpool’s most important players since his move to Anfield from Southampton in January.
So, when manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed that the centre-back was a doubt for Saturday’s Premier League clash against Chelsea, some fans began to worry.
The Dutchman missed the team’s midweek defeat to the Blues in the EFL Cup due to a rib injury that he has been struggling with for a couple of weeks.
It was suggested that Van Dijk has not completely recovered given that he has missed most of training this week, but Klopp has included him in the first XI at Stamford Bridge.
Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip partnered up at the back in midweek at Anfield, but Van Dijk and Joe Gomez have resumed as the first-choice pairing for the Chelsea meeting.
Understandably, the inclusion of the defender was the first selection that caught the eye of most Liverpool fans on Twitter.
