Lisandro Martinez has reportedly undergone surgery on his torn anterior cruciate ligament – with the Argentine potentially sidelined for up to a year.

According to the Daily Mail, Martinez had surgery in London on his ACL on Thursday and initial signs are that the operation was successful. The report adds recovery periods can range from six months to a year but if he responds well he may have the chance to return to fitness for the start of next season.

Martinez, 27, suffered the serious injury at home to Crystal Palace earlier this month as his United woes continued. The former Ajax star has missed dozens of games for the Red Devils with metatarsal, foot, knee, and calf injuries and now this latest blow is a huge setback.
