Sky Sports EFL pundit David Prutton has revealed his latest set of Championship predictions for the upcoming fixtures this weekend, but he doesn’t believe that an in-form Aston Villa have enough to see off Sheffield Wednesday at Villa Park on Saturday.
Following a disappointing start to the season, Steve Bruce’s men have won six of their last eight league games to move up to fifth in the standings, with the last of those victories coming against Preston North End at Deepdale on Wednesday night when they ran out 2-0 winners.
That followed a goalless draw against arch-rivals Birmingham City at St Andrew’s on Sunday, and Bruce will be hoping that his side can close in on the top two when they welcome Wednesday to Villa Park.
The Owls have certainly endured a mixed start to the campaign considering they have won five, drawn five and lost five of their 15 Championship fixtures, and the pressure looks to be building on Carlos Carvalhal’s shoulders considering they made the play-offs last term.
The Yorkshire outfit did end a run of three games without a win when they beat Millwall 2-1 at Hillsborough on Tuesday night, with Jordan Rhodes’ first league goal of the season proving to be decisive.

While Villa will be the favourites coming into the clash, David Prutton doesn’t see it being that clear cut.
He told Sky Sports: “It’s hard to call this one. Sheffield Wednesday got back to winning ways in midweek but every time they do get a victory it seems to be followed quickly by another poor run, and that’s why they find themselves in mid-table at the start of November.
“Aston Villa, meanwhile, will be content with their draw at Birmingham and got a great win at Preston on Wednesday night, but it’s been a tough week and I feel like this will be a draw.”
Villa took maximum points in the corresponding fixture last season as a Jonathan Kodjia brace saw off Wednesday after Owls star Vincent Sasso had been sent off just after half-time.
