Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Wales starlet Brayden Clarke after he made a name for himself at Wolves.

The club have announced the 16-year-old joins the north London outfit as a first year scholar; plus, the centre-back started for the Gunners' under-18 side in their 8-3 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.

The teenager left Wolves earlier this year after impressing in the club's youth ranks over the course of a seven-year spell. Clarke was a member of the Wales Under-17s squad which reached the European Championship Finals last May and is seen as a rising star of the game.

Clarke is the son of former Scotland international and ex-Wolves and West Brom star Nigel Quashie. When the youngster left Wolves, he wrote on Instagram: "After seven years at Wolves, the time has come for me to move onto a new chapter. I want to thank everybody who has helped me along the journey and I wish all of my team-mates at Wolves the best of luck for the future."

Clarke could next be in action for Arsenal's under-18 side when they host London neighbours Fulham in the league on March 30. They currently sit fifth in the southern table, one place and two points behind the Cottagers.
