West Ham United manager Manuel Pellegrini was a busy man in the summer as he recruited nine new players.
Unfortunately, the ambition in the transfer market has not reflected onto the pitch as the club have lost all four of their Premier League fixtures.
During the off-season, Sky Sports transfer blog (August 6, 10.32am) reported that the East London outfit were in talks to sign Benfica midfielder Joao Felix.
A move never materialised, and now Record claims that high-profile agent Jorge Mendes is working on including a clause of more than £100m in the 18-year-old’s new deal at Benfica.
If the Premier League club revive their interest in the teenage midfielder, then they will have to find a huge chunk of money.
If the release clause is inserted, there is no way that the Hammers would be able to afford to sign him.

The midfielder is still in the early stages of his career so there is no guarantee that he would become a superstar, but have the Premier League club missed an opportunity?
