Leeds fans, have you recovered from THAT second leg against Derby County yet? We don’t blame you if you haven’t, but now it’s time to move on and try and focus on a 2019/20 season promotion push that will no doubt have all of the ups and downs of the last 12 months.
One man that could be set to relive it all over again is Jack Harrison. The Manchester City winger spent last season at Elland Road playing under Marcelo Bielsa on-loan, and according to Football Insider, he could be set for another loan in Yorkshire.
The stats, on the face of things, may not look like Harrison had a great time in the previous campaign. The 22-year-old managed four goals and three assists in his 37 games for the Whites, but it was a lot more than his end product that was useful at Elland Road.
With very few wide options available to Bielsa, Harrison played a large part in the Championship campaign, rarely letting the supporters down. It would also be very smart to bring him back in seeing that Jack Clarke, by all accounts, seems to be set to sign for Tottenham (BBC).
Harrison coming back and Clarke leaving may actually be for the best at Elland Road too. When you have a look at the pair, which we have, there are plenty of areas that the once New York City FC star comes out on top in, and you can compare the two using the WhoScored comparison tool.
The stats that we’ve picked out, though, have shown Harrison to be more the creative player as he averages one key pass per game compared to Jack Clarke’s 0.7, as well as averaging 0.5 more crosses per game and makes 8.5 more passes a game than the 18-year-old. All of these things help to contribute to the fact that Leeds created more shooting chances than any other side and averaged 17.2 shots per game.
When taking all of that into account, and the fact that Clarke looks set to leave, bringing in Harrison looks like a good idea for the Whites to go ahead with. It also helps that the £3.6 million-rated (via Transfermarkt) star lived and breathed Leeds’ title run-in after last season, so would also help by providing top-end Championship experience to a side looking to break into the Premier League.
Leeds fans, would you take Harrison back for next season? Let us know and comment below!
