According to a report in The Liverpool Echo, David Moyes’ chances of being appointed as Everton’s next manager are fading.
The Times reported earlier this week that the Scot was ‘on the brink’ of making a return to Goodison Park having left for Manchester United in 2013, but if that was true it appears the Merseyside outfit have had a change of heart in recent days.
Perhaps that could be down to Carlo Ancelotti being newly-available following his sacking by Napoli, or how impressed they have been with Duncan Ferguson since he took caretaker charge. Who knows?
What does appear clear from The Liverpool Echo is that Moyes won’t be making what would surely be an emotional return to the club following his managerial career which has hardly gone from strength to strength over the course of the past six years.
Disappointing spells with United, Sunderland and Real Sociedad were followed up by a decent short period with West Ham United where he kept them in the Premier League, but was then subsequently replaced by Manuel Pellegrini in the summer of 2018 – he has been out of work since.
The report adds that as well as Ancelotti, there are as many as five names on the club’s shortlist to be Marco Silva’s successor.
In other Everton news, a report has detailed what Farhad Moshiri and Bill Kenwright need to do to convince Carlo Ancelotti to become manager…
